| Home Knits and Bits is a one woman show (with lots of back up help!). My name is Debby Cook. I am the proud mother of five beautiful children and have arranged my life so that I am able to stay home with them. I am also a home school mother and a dairy farmer's wife. Loving crafts, I took up knitting. I find knitting to be relaxing, challenging and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. I so enjoyed knitting that I quickly went from knitting scarves to making afghans and then I discovered sweaters. Next, I made a knit wool purse and felted it. A good friend kept asking me when I would make a purse to sell. I thought that was crazy, “is there any ‘demand’ for hand knit items?”. I kept thinking about it and came to the conclusion that having some items for sale would be fun and I could see for myself if there was an interest in them while expanding my knowledge base of knit items. With a confident friend prodding me on, I put two purses up for sale. They sold quickly and I furiously (and happily) knitted away trying to keep up. And a hobby became a business that I love...a job doesn't get any better than that! Thank you for letting me introduce myself and my hobby and subsequent dream business. Given the hours needed to create these items, this is a labor of love. I look forward to a future of creating unique and exciting ‘bits’. Thanks for visiting and come back soon, Debby |
